From HowlRound: "Twin Cities Theatres of Colors Are Transforming Relationships"
For 10 years, Theater Mu has been honored to be a part of the Twin Cities Theatres of Color Coalition (TCTOCC) alongside Penumbra Theatre Company, Pangea World Theater, New Native Theatre, and Teatro del Pueblo. Much of the work’s focus has been on building deep-seated, trusting relationships with each other as partners—not competitors—and with organizations involved in the Racial Equity Funders Collaborative (REFC). Trust may sound simple, but the leaders of TCTOCC believe that it is the key to building revolutionary, equitable change in the philanthropy model.
As kt shorb writes in their two-part essay for the national theater forum Howlround, “The TCTOCC-REFC partnership has garnered not only substantial financial support from multiple sources, but also a national reputation as a groundbreaking model in sustainable, socially engaged relationships between theatres and funders.”
