We need your support to continue our work and grow

The company of our production of Susan Soon He Stanton’s Today Is My Birthday

Will you help us continue to move towards something grander?

Theater Mu’s busiest and most engaging season is coming to a close, and as Twin Cities theaters slowly begin to reopen, we are fortunate to be able to look back on an expansive season centered around innovation and revolution. Our focus for the past 18 months has been to support local artists and partners while boldly highlighting the stories and hardships of our Asian American communities in the face of violence and joy. With these intentions, we have undoubtedly arrived at a place much grander.

And how grand this season has been. Through 12 mighty events and programs such as our ambitious TwentyPho Hour PlayFest and groundbreaking theater-film hybrid production of Today Is My Birthday, we were able to stay connected with our local audiences and meet new folks from all over the world.

“The work that Mu does is invaluable. You brought so much laughter, joy, reflection, and connection into our homes and lives at a time when it was most needed. Your work is a living reminder of why theater is important in this world. Thank you for being an organization whose values are rooted in Asian American stories and representation.”

As we prepare for our upcoming 2021/22 season, we are incorporating the lessons we learned about audience accessibility, artistic equity, and technological innovation. On the stage, you will experience high-quality theater, evolving beyond our typical mainstage productions to include special presentations and virtual festivals. Off the stage, we will invest in future generations of Asian American artists through workshops, classes, and camps. This work and expansion of Theater Mu are only possible through the generosity of our community.

Supporting the arts has never been more important than right now. As the world reopens, we decline to return to what was. We are working through various social reckonings and the journey towards something grander has only begun. With your support, we will be ready to continue the journey. Will you be joining us?

With care and gratitude,
