GENERAL AUDITIONS 2025/26

Theater Mu’s general auditions will be held in person on Aug 25 & 27. If you are unavailable for an in-person appointment, video submissions are accepted. We strongly encourage local Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander actors to audition so we can get to know you and your art better!

Actors should prepare two contrasting monologues no longer than three minutes total. While we are not asking for musical auditions, you may choose to replace one monologue with a song. For AEA actors: Theater Mu mainstage productions are on an SPT6 contract.

If you have questions, please email auditions@theatermu.org. Don’t forget to check out other opportunities on our Artists & Auditions page.

WHY GENERAL AUDITIONS?

General auditions are a way for you to connect with our theater and show what you can do, either as an introduction or an update on your skills.

SIGN UP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Sign up for an audition slot.

  2. Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues, not to exceed 3 minutes total.

    • If you don’t have monologues already chosen, we’ll have monologues available for cold reads at the audition.

    • Because of our 2025/26 season, we are not asking for musical auditions. However, if you wish to present a song, you may substitute one of your monologues and perform a capella or accompanied by your own device (must connect to Bluetooth or provide its own amplified sound).

    • While we will hold specific auditions for Hmong Futures, playwright Katie Ka Vang will also be in the room, and you can view the character breakdown of the show.

  3. Fill out our audition form. If you have any questions or have difficulties accessing the form, please email auditions@theatermu.org.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

If you cannot attend in person, you are welcome to submit your full audition via video. If you do not live in the Twin Cities but can be considered a local hire (i.e., provide your own lodging and transportation), you are also welcome to submit via video. Please fill out our audition form and email your video link to info@theatermu.org by Aug 27, 2025, at 11:59 pm CT.
