HOME / PRODUCTION HISTORY / DeMayda’d
Synopsis
Known more as a bite-sized international touring musician, Mayda, is now performing her very first self- written, one-woman show. She is presenting her odd little experiences growing up as a Korean Adoptee in Minnesota. Think “Purple Rain” and “8-Mile”, only Mayda‘s version of triple minority status in live story-telling form with quirky analytical stories along with new and current music inspired by her journey to figure out identity and self-analyzation.
Presented by the Guthrie Theater, DeMayda’d is a Mu Performing Arts developmental work by and featuring Twin Cities pop funk musician Mayda Slice, directed by Mu Artistic Director Randy Reyes (Guthrie: as an actor in M. Butterfly, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Government Inspector). This one-woman show in concert format will play a limited engagement.
