SUMMER CAMP FOR STUDENTS ENTERING 3RD-9TH GRADE
Mu Explorations is coming back this summer with full-day elementary school and middle school camps! Through physical games and activities led by professional theater artists, students will learn a variety of performance strategies and essential stage skills, while exploring story and character - all through the lens of Asian America. Each day, we’ll be exploring aspects of theater with professional artists, celebrating Asian American history, and—of course—having plenty of fun along the way.
Check back for class themes, and read more details below!
Camp Dates: July 21-Aug 1, Monday - Friday
Module 1 - 9 a.m. to noon, Module 2 - 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: 825 Arts
Cost: $250 per module, with an option to Pay As You Are
Ages: Students entering third through ninth grade
Classes are divided into elementary (grades 3-5) and middle school (grades 6-9) groups. Each module will be unique, with class themes ranging from folktales, role playing, musical theater, and playwriting. No matter which classes they attend, students will discover how to use their voice and body, explore stories, create characters, and design inspiring new worlds.
If you enroll in both modules, please note that a Theater Mu staff will be on site during the program break from noon to 1 p.m. So sign up, pack a lunch, and experience a full day of theater!
Mu was born out of a need for AAPI representation in American theater, and we represent the Asian American diaspora, honoring our identity as Asian Americans while also respecting our diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our past participants have specifically pointed out the joy of sharing theater with other AAPI budding artists, and for this reason, we will prioritize students who identify as Asian or Asian American for enrollment.
If financial support is needed, please let us know.
