HOME / PRODUCTION HISTORY /From Shadows to Light
Somewhere in the heavens, a bride-to-be traveling to her arranged wedding encounters a poet of great renown. Through a magical interweaving of shadow puppets and humans, their journey unfolds, revealing the historical tragedies and current realities faced by women in Asian and Asian American communities. Their pathway through truth and terror ultimately illuminates the strength and hope of women’s lives in Aisan cultures.
Based on true accounts gathered from women locally and across Southeast Asia, Ka Vang gives voice to those whose experience is rarely heard. Artistic Driector Rick Shiomi says, ‘Ka brings both love and joy to this story of a poet and a bride on a journey to self-understanding.
