GENERAL AUDITIONS 2024/25
Theater Mu’s general auditions will be held in person on July 22 & 23. If you are unavailable for an in-person appointment, video submissions are accepted. We strongly encourage local Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander actors to audition so we can get to know you and your art better!
Actors should prepare either two contrasting monologues or one monologue and a short movement routine, in total not taking more than three minutes. Click here for a character breakdown for the 2024/25 season. More details under Sign Up Instructions.
Available opportunities for 2024/25 include Mu’s mainstage productions, play-reading festival, workshops, fundraiser events, and family and educational programs. We’re looking for both AEA and non-union actors who live in the Twin Cities, and we welcome AANHPI actors of all ages, genders, backgrounds, and abilities. (For AEA actors: Theater Mu is on an SPT6 contract for our mainstage productions.)
For those unacquainted with general auditions, they are a way for you to connect with our theater and show what you can do. Both new and returning Mu actors attend, as the latter use it as a way to update us on new projects or improved skills. In short, they’re a way for you to join our community of artists and ensure you’re at the top of our artistic team’s mind as they think about upcoming opportunities.
If you have questions, please email info@theatermu.org. Don’t forget to check out other opportunities on our Artists & Auditions page.

SIGN UP INSTRUCTIONS
Sign up for an audition slot.
Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues, or 1 monologue and 1 choreography/movement routine, not to exceed 3 minutes total.
On monologues: If you don’t have monologues, we’ll have monologues available at the audition for cold reads.
On choreography: While you can perform any style of movement, our production will use Yorchha style, developed by Ananya Chatterjea. If you don’t have a choreographic/movement routine but would like to show something, one option is looking at how-to videos by YouTube creators such as Leia or Ti & Me TV. To accompany your choreography/movement routine, we recommend bringing a device that connects to Bluetooth or a boombox.
Because of our 2024/25 season, we are not currently asking for musical auditions. There will be no accompanist; however, if you wish to bring a song, you may perform a capella, bring a device that connects to Bluetooth to play a track, or bring a boombox to play a track.
Fill out our audition form. If you have any questions or have difficulties accessing the form, please email info@theatermu.org.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
If you cannot attend in person, you are welcome to submit your full audition via video. If you do not live in the Twin Cities but can be considered a local hire (i.e., provide your own lodging and transportation), you are also welcome to submit via video. Please fill out our audition form and email your video link to info@theatermu.org by July 23, 2024, at 11:59 pm CT.
